The Paid Memberships Pro VAT Tax Addon helps calculate Value-Added Tax (VAT) at checkout for European Union customers, while allowing those with a valid VAT number to avoid paying the tax. This ensures your membership site complies with EU VAT regulations and offers a smooth checkout experience for international customers.

With this addon, a new section titled “European Union Residents VAT” is added to the Membership Checkout form. Customers can select their EU country of residence from a dropdown menu or enter their VAT number. The VAT number is automatically validated using the official SOAP service provided by the European Commission, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

VAT rates are automatically applied based on up-to-date rates published by the European Commission. The plugin is fully prepared for updates to EU tax rates, including reductions effective July 1, 2020, which vary by country and industry.
